Ishwari "Ishi" Upasani, PT, MS

Ishwari (“Ishi” as she is known) earned her Bachelor’s in Physical Therapy in India’s Sancheti Institute College of Physiotherapy in 2010 and subsequently practiced in the outpatient orthopedic setting for 3 years in India before moving on to obtain her Master’s in Rehabilitation Sciences from University of Illinois at Chicago in 2015.  Ishi admits it was a last minute career change that led her to the profession of physical therapy, but soon realized it's where she belonged all along.  It is the perfect fit for how she envisions the relationship between a provider and a patient should be.  She draws great satisfaction in knowing that as part of a patient centric team approach, she can help the patient overcome any issue or obstacle in achieving their goals for better movement and strength.  “The one-to-one model is very essential in building a rapport with your patient, establish and update treatment goals and be able to notice and keep a track even of the littlest changes in their status.”

After relocating to the Seattle area with her family, Ishi was looking for a practice that was conducive to learning, a place where she could cultivate her knowledge in the newest developments in physical therapy and most importantly find a place that aligned with her interests, philosophy, and values.  “Movement Systems was exactly the kind of place that I was looking for. The clinic has an amazing team of Physical Therapists doing a fantastic job and I think being a part of such a talented team always makes one strive harder each day to perform better.”

Outside of her practice, Ishi is a trained Indian classical dancer, loves to go for hikes with family and friends, enjoys cooking with her husband, and indulges in meditation. “Dancing and long walks are my favorite forms of relaxation.”
