Erik Bies, DPT, MS
Erik is a graduate of the University of Washington Doctor of Physical Therapy program. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Luther College and his Master’s Degree in Human Movement and Performance with an emphasis on exercise physiology and biomechanics from Western Washington University.
Erik is is your guide for exploring your movement capabilities, for rationalizing your pain experience, and leading you toward your goals with perspective along the way. Erik takes time to get your full story and will continuously to adapt to match where you are at in your rehabilitation process.
Erik started the Transformative Running Project at Movement Systems as his way of blending his running and coaching expertise to promote wellness through running. He has extensive experience working with recreational and elite level runners. He is a certified USA Track and Field level 1 coach. As a former NCAA division II and III All-American track athlete, Erik chose to initially pursue a passion for understanding sports performance and coaching. Erik worked as an assistant coach for 3 years at Western Washington University helping guide both men’s and women’s cross country teams to their highest NCAA finishes in school history.
Outside of the clinic, Erik is most content when exploring the great outdoors on foot, cycle, or skis with friends and his border collie, Max. Depending on the season, he may be at a local trout stream with his fly rod or playing in the mountain snow. Erik is also a regular fan at local cross country and track meets, Seahawks games, and Sounders FC matches.
